Indonesian Navy in Search of Missing Airplane at Madura Strait

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) has mobilized 13 vessels and a dedicated search team, which includes the elite frogmen command (Kopaska) and divers, to assist in the search for the G-36 Bonanza T-2503 that is believed to have crashed into the Madura Strait in East Java.
In a written statement received by Tempo on Wednesday, Sept. 7, Command Fleet (Koarmada) II confirmed that the search was led by the military command’s Commander.
The aircraft crashed during an air defense exercise amidst a convoy with military vessels where the Bonanza jet acted as the attacker.
Indonesian Navy statement explained that the cause of the T-2503 crashing into the ocean was still unknown.
The aircraft initially departed from the Juanda Airport at 08:45 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) this morning and was piloted by Yudistira who flew with co-pilot Dendi. Just minutes after takeoff, the aircraft lost contact with the airbase at 08:55 WIB over the Madura Strait.
