TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Edutech startup Zenius on Wednesday announced that it has laid off over 200 of its employees which constitute 25 percent of its whole workforce, which the company claims is caused by the “macroeconomics” that is currently happening that has affected the education and technology industry.

This situation, they said, has driven the company to consolidate and synergize its business to guarantee continuity, Bisnis.com reported.

The startup announced this in a press release on Wednesday stating that “After going through evaluations and comprehensive review, Zenius announces that more than 200 employees will have to leave the company.”

The company explains that laid-off employees will receive severance packages according to existing regulations and that they will continue to receive health benefits from the company’s insurance until September 30, 2022.

To help employees affected by the layoff get new opportunities, Zenius said they will also assist by providing personal data of employees affected by layoffs to companies or other educational institutions with their consent.

"During the transition process, Zenius is committed to ensuring that all rights and support needed by affected employees are properly met," the press statement reads.
