Muhammad Arif Sambodo, head of the Central Java Trade and Industry Office, said that the tidal flood does have an effect on trade and manufacturing in the province, such as in Lamicitra.

"But everything else keeps going. I have asked friends who have cooking oil storage tanks, for example, [and they said] they are still loading and unloading and so on," Arif told Bisnis on Tuesday, May 24,.

Arif said that flood disaster management efforts in Tanjung Emas had been carried out by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) team and the Water Resources and Spatial Planning Public Works Agency (Pusdataru).

As export-import activities carry on through a number of delivery points, Arif is optimistic that Central Java's trade performance is well maintained. "This is short-term. We are still optimistic about imports and exports. It's still safe," said Arif.

Not just Tanjung Emas Port, Central Java has other sea and airports used for trade activities, such as Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang and Adi Sumarmo Airport Solo. Although the volume and capacity is less than Tanjung Emas Port.
