TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian railway company PT KAI's Yogyakarta operational Region transported a total of 647,499 long-distance train passengers during the Eid al-Fitr holiday from April 22 to May 13, 2022.

"This is a record of the number of passengers who disembark or depart from various stations in our operational area," Public Relations Manager of PT KAI's Yogyakarta Operational Region Supriyanto said on Sunday.

The total number of passengers who arrived in Yogyakarta was 337,323 people, while the number of departing passengers was 310,176 people.

Based on this data, the number of departing passengers reached 110 percent of the projected total number of passengers at 282,926

During the Eid holiday period this year, KAI Yogyakarta operated 27 long-distance trains (KAJJ), consisting of 19 regular trains and eight additional trains.

The peak number of arrivals occurred on May 4 with 22,400 passengers, and the peak of departing passengers was on May 7 with 21,318 passengers.

The number of passengers arriving or departing from KAI Yogyakarta during the Eid holiday this year is almost the same as those during the Eid holidays prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The number of passengers on Eid holiday this year was extraordinary, so we tried to balance it by optimizing services to customers," he said.

PT KAI implemented strict health protocols in accordance with the existing regulations and consistently rejected passengers that did not meet the travel requirements.

The number of passengers of Yogyakarta-Solo commuter trains and the Prambanan Express train also increased significantly during the Eid holiday this year.

The Yogyakarta-Solo KRL served a total of 271,960 passengers with the highest volume occurring on May 5 at 25,731 passengers.

Meanwhile, the Prambanan Express for the Kutoarjo-Yogyakarta connection with eight trips per day served 46,655 passengers with the highest volume on May 3 at 2,555 passengers.
