TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Director Sr. Comr. Sambodo Purnomo Yogo said the traffic policy around the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area in Central Jakarta following the May Day Fiesta 2022 event staged by workers on Saturday, May 13, will depend on the situation.
“The traffic reroute depends on the situation, but we will open three gates: Gate 10 which is [located in front of] TVRI, Gate 7, and if the two gates are really crowded, we will open Gate 5,” said Sambodo at the Metro Jaya Police HQ on Friday, May 13, 2022.
He asked the public to refrain from doing exercise or any activities in the stadium area on Saturday morning. “Jakarta residents should exerce in GBK from the morning because the mass of workers will have arrived. There are around a thousand buses carrying workers who will enter GBK,” he underlined.
A number of parking lots have also been prepared to accommodate thousands of buses and private vehicles carrying the mass.
Sambodo also reminded the public to avoid the DPR/MPR building area because the workers planned to hold a demonstration in front of the parliament building in the morning prior to May Day Fiesta.
