Pertamina Asks State Officials Not to Talk of LPG Price Hike before Discussion

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Nicke Widyawati, President Director of state-owned gas and oil giant Pertamina, asked state officials not to talk about the increase in prices of liquefied petroleum gas or LPG canisters to the public before discussing it with the company first.
“[I ask] all, any party, not to easily convey statement or else [about the price hike of LPG]. If the plan is not clear yet, if there is no discussion yet within the company, and convey it to the public, it will cause anxiety among them,” said Nicke in a hearing with the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission VII in Jakarta, Wednesday, April 6.
She also suggested public figures keep their statements and have empathy for the people’s feelings by not conveying things that will burden them further. Let alone the topic has not been discussed with the state-run gas and oil firm.
Previously reported, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan said on Friday last week, April 1, that the price of subsidized 3-kilogram will be increased following the price hike of the non-subsidized gasoline of RON 92 type Pertamax.
Luhut underlined that the government would calculate and disseminate the price hike plan of LPG. However, he stopped short of mentioning the detail.
