TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A member of the working committee (panja) for the Sexual Crimes Bill (RUU TPKS) Christina Aryani on Sunday is optimistic that members of the panja and government will finish discussing the Bill in the following week.

“I am optimistic that it can be completed in the following week. Monday will see a number of crimes that will be constructed,” said Christina on April 3, Antaranews reported.

According to her, legislators and the government will formulate early draft laws on gender-based online violence, aborsion, and also aspects related to rape. After these aspects of the law are discussed, the draft Bill will be taken to the legislation body for plenary approval.

She believes that the formulation of the sexual violence crimes law had been dynamic and positive after the two parties involved in it were constantly providing constructive input and shared equal spirit and eagerness to complete the Draft Bill.

“I am grateful that the Government and DPR have the same spirit. One week of intensive discussion is a time that I consider reasonable. We are careful in the formulating it to ensure that what’s regulated can be implemented effectively and does not have multiple interpretations,” said the Golkar Party politician on Sunday.

She insisted that the Sexual Crimes Draft Bill will mainly support the victims of such crimes through prevention, coordination, and monitoring.
