TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Cabinet Secretariat’s office in a press statement on Sunday announced that Indonesia has been voted to host the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) which is scheduled to be held in 2024. This decision was taken in the World Water Council (WWC) board of governor meeting on March 19, at Dakar.

According to the Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono in an Instagram video on Sunday mentioned that Indonesia obtained 30 votes while Italy obtained one vote, which he welcomed positively.

The Minister himself attended the voting process alongside Indonesian Ambassador to Senegal Dindin Wahyudin.

WWF-10 takes the theme “Water for Shared Prosperity”, which is considered relevant to today's global conditions where the availability of clean water remains to be a challenge for many countries.

Moreover, Indonesia is committed to strengthening collaboration with various stakeholders in achieving sustainable development target 6 (SDG 6) regarding the right to clean water and good sanitation.

Indonesia is the first Southeast Asian country to be selected to host WWF. In addition to strengthening Indonesia's position in the field of water resource management. The country’s hosting of the 10th WWF is also expected to be used to promote tourism as attendees are expected to be as large as 10,000 participants.
