TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's state oil and gas company Pertamina is targeting to develop 1,000 green energy stations (GES) that run on solar power this year. The company currently has 143 units of GES across the country supporting the electric vehicle ecosystem.

Pertamina is committed to playing an active role in building electric vehicle infrastructure in Indonesia by expanding its Battery network of Charging Stations and Battery Swapping Stations.

Pertamina president director Nicke Widyawati said the company has built six Battery Charging Stations and is operating 14 units of Battery Swapping Stations with 213 batteries in seven Green Energy Station (GES) locations.

"We will actively develop electric vehicle infrastructure. In the future, we will continue to expand the Battery Swapping Station network in Indonesia," she said in an official statement on February 22.

Battery Swapping Station allows drivers to change batteries and continue with their drive without having to wait hours for their batteries to fully charge. With a business model like this, Nicke said, Indonesia also has the opportunity to develop a national standard electric motor battery that will make electric motorcycles more affordable.

"Pertamina continues to support government programs in accelerating energy transition in the electric vehicle sector, together with Gojek, Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC), Gesits, and Electrum," Nicke remarked.
