TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Tangerang Regent Ahmed Zaki Iskandar confirmed the public outdoor activities in the region are limited until 10 p.m. on New Year's Eve.

Zaki ensured there will be no new year’s celebrations, fireworks, let alone music concerts, and others tonight. “All activities must be finished at 10 p.m. at maximum,” he said on Friday, December 31.

He explained that the prohibition and tightening of community activities on New Year's Eve are measures taken by the regency government to anticipate a spike in COVID-19 cases.

All officers, he added, will conduct patrol from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. “Satpol PP (Public Order Agency) officers can even do the patrol until dawn with Pak Dandim (Regency Military Commander) and Pak Polres (Resort Police Chief). So please follow the rules,” Zaki underlined.

The authorities will not hesitate to take firm action if residents violate these policies which are aimed at curbing COVID-19 transmission.

The Tangerang Regency Government also asked managers of shopping centers and malls to open special counters or outlets to provide COVID-19 vaccination for visitors.
