TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Tangerang Regent Ahmed Zaki Iskandar issued an instruction regarding the restrictions on the Christmas and New Year holidays period.
In the Regent's Instruction No. 18 of 2021, it is stated that shopping centers or malls are allowed to operate as usual during the year-end holidays. “But they are prohibited to offer midnight sale,” said Zaki on Thursday, December 23.
Zaki explained that shopping centers in Tangerang Regency are allowed to operate until 10 p.m. at a limited capacity of 75 percent.
Meanwhile, markets selling non-daily necessities are permitted to operate without limited capacity but limited operating hours. “This new rule is implemented in line with the enforcement of PPKM Level 1 in Tangerang Regency,” he added.
Zaki further asked officials of the COVID-19 task force at the sub-district, village, and neighborhood levels to launch close monitoring, especially on people who gather and celebrate Christmas and New Year excessively.
The Regent also said his side would open monitoring posts at a number of areas prone to be crowded by people during the year-end holidays so that the team would be easier to conduct supervision and patrol around the area.
