TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bogor city government is determined to improve facilities for cyclists by building bike lanes in several areas. Mayor Bima Arya conveyed his wish to integrate the 60-kilometers bike lanes of Bogor and Jakarta in collaboration with Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
“I want to cooperate with Jakarta Governor to integrate bicycle lanes together because every weekend, there are lots of cyclists from Jakarta to Bogor or Bogor to Jakarta,” said Bima some time ago.
He also wanted to invite Anies to try riding a bike on that route. “I've tried cycling from Bogor to Jakarta up to 60 kilometers,” said Bima.
The PAN politician said the bicycle lanes were not only used for sports but also the public mobility that could bring residents of Jakarta Greater Area (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi) closer.
Bogor Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) Secretary, Rudy Mashudi, said the city has built several bike lanes that took up to 1.2 meters of the road.
“However, the road will still be able to be passed by two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles when there are no cyclists on the path,” he said.
