Nine Vehicles Involved in Multiple Collisions in Puncak Cisarua

TEMPO.CO, Bogor - The multiple-vehicle collision occurred on Jalan Raya Puncak, Cisarua, Bogor Regency, on Tuesday, January 23, when the truck loaded with bottled water allegedly experienced brake failure. Dozens of victims have been evacuated to the Goenawan Partiwidigdo Hospital (RSPG) Cisarua.
The Bogor Police’s Traffic Accident Unit is still collecting data on the victims and investigating the cause of the crash. The Bogor Traffic Police's Law Enforcement Unit Chief First Inspector Angga Nugraha said that the accident was allegedly caused by a brake failure.
“Most of the victims suffered minor injuries. We are currently investigating the cause of the accident,” Angga told Tempo on Tuesday, January 23.
Angga said that five four-wheeled vehicles were involved in the accident, namely two box trucks, a public minivan or angkot on the Cisarua-Bogor route, a public minivan on the Cisarua-Cipanas route, and an SUV. Four motorcycles were also involved in the accident which occurred at the corner of Tugu Sepatan, Cisarua.
Footage taken by locals of the multi-vehicle accident on the Puncak route showed that several four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles were severely damaged. A truck carrying bottled mineral water was also seen smashing into a restaurant.
The accident was reported to have occurred at around 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday. As of 12:50 p.m., 15 victims had been admitted to the nearby hospital, RSPG. “Fifteen victims were treated in the emergency room and there were no deaths,” the hospital’s spokesperson Iwan Ridwan said on Tuesday.
