TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State power company PLN is investing Rp82.4 billion to operate the 150 kilo Volt (kV) Substation (GI) in Dolok Bay, North Sumatra, with a capacity of 30 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA).

The move is a response to the government's plan to attract investment to Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra.

PLN's general manager for North Sumatra Main Development Unit, Octavianus Padudung said that the project is aimed at increasing the area's power supply, as revealed by Alfredo Pakpahan, South Sumatra 3's Project Implementation Unit (UPP) manager in a written statement Tuesday, 9 November.

He said that PLN is committed to supporting the government's efforts to increase investment in Simalungun, which is expected to accelerate economic growth and alleviate locals' welfare.

He said that PLN hopes the project will attract investors to invest in building medium and large industries. "That way, job opportunities can be more wide open in areas that will receive electricity from this substation," he said.
