TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Masyita Crystallin, a special staffer of Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, conveyed the purposes of the Presidential Regulation on Carbon Economic Value. One of them is to emphasize that Indonesia is a destination for green investment.

She said that this regulation will compliment a number of rules used to control the climate change, as well as to create a sustainable green economy.

"Therefore, Indonesia will be more attractive in the eyes of the global investors,” said Masyita in an official statement on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. She added that this regulation will assert Indonesia's commitment in climate change issues. Such as in the target of reduced carbon emission in 2030 and zero-net emission in 2060.

This regulation has previously been signed by President Joko Widodo or Jokowi on Friday, October 29, before he left for Glasgow, Scotland, to attend COP26 summit on November 1-2.

Indonesia's chief of Climate Change Control Advisory Council, Sarwono Kusumaatmadja, confirmed about the presidential regulation.

"With the aforementioned steps and Indonesia's position as G20 leader, Indonesia has a good role (in COP26)," Sarwono said Saturday, October 30.

The Indonesian government, Masyita said, has set several mechanism to support the clean energy investment and to reduce CO2 emission from motorized vehicles. This is done through, among others, the tax insentive for clean energy, clean technology development, budgeting, enrgy transition mechanism (ETM).

Meanwhile, from the financial sector, Masyita mentioned that the Financial Service Authority (OJK) has arranged the sustainable business categories which will be used as the reference to categorize the green business sector in financial industry. "This categorization is hoped to be able to raise the services in the sustainable financial development," she remarked.
