TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Indonesian President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), is diagnosed with prostate cancer. He will undergo a medical check up and treatment abroad.
"Based on the MRI, biopsy, Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Specific Membrane Antigen (SMA) Scan and other check ups, SBY's prostate cancer is still in the early stage," said Yudhoyono's personal staff Ossy in a written report on Tuesday, November 2, 2021.
With his recent condition, doctors concluded that all options are open for treatment and medication. "After in-depth consultations with a team of Indonesian doctors, including senior urologist, it was decided that the treatment is to be done abroad at a hospital that has experience and technology to treat prostate cancer," said Ossy.
Ossy mentioned that the communications between the teams of Indonesian doctors and neighboring countries was going well and the neighboring countries agreed to treat SBY.
The Chairman of the Democrat's Party has also called President Joko Widodo or Jokowi to report SBY's treatment. "President Jokowi gave a positive response and said either one or two members of the presidential doctors team would assist in the treatment," said Ossy.
SBY still does his daily activities. Ossy said that SBY asked for the prayers from the people of Indonesian for the treatment.
