TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno on Tuesday commented on the lack of international tourist visits to Bali even though Indonesia has opened the door for international tourism on October 14. He believes there are no international flights yet destined for Bali.

“Oftentimes flight slot applications are submitted by the airline after an analysis towards the level of demand are conducted, or in other words, seeking for the potential number of passengers,” Sandiaga wrote in a statement on October 26.

Meanwhile, the level of demands emerge following disseminations and promotions conducted by the airliner. He believes it would take time for air carriers to offer international flights that refer to the demands from the market.

“It needs time to realize the entire process to increase demands,” he added.

The tourism ministry has offered Bali tourism packages to travel agents located in 19 countries touted as the ‘It’s time for Bali’ social media campaign. Meanwhile, the VP corporate secretary of state-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura I Handy Heryudhitiawan said the traffic in Bali’s international Ngurah Rai airport is currently still dominated by domestic tourists.
