Suzuki Indonesia Confirm Hacking Attempt; Plant Temporarily Shut Down

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor (SIM) and PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) as part of Suzuki Global announced on Friday, October 22, 2021, that it had become a victim of a hacking attempt after they found the company's internal network had been illegally accessed.

The security breach affected parts of its production system which temporarily halted production in one of its vehicle assembly plants for two days. Suzuki Indonesia claims to have restored control of its online system.

The company also reported that there were attempts to breach the company server that houses customer information. Suzuki asserted that it will conduct a thorough investigation and is currently unable to confirm whether any customer information had been leaked or not.

President Director of PT SIS and PT SIM Shingo Sezaki, issued an official statement on Friday, October 22, 2021, apologizing to Suzuki customers for the inconvenience that potentially sparked worries. He pledged to "Strengthen its steps towards data and customer information security at PT SIM/SIS."
