TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The official website of the Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs was believed to have been hacked. Tempo observed that the page displayed an article titled "Slot Deposit Pulsa Tanpa Potongan Hoktoto", which was allegedly an advertisement for online gambling. The post was uploaded on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 22:12 Jakarta time.
The short article was uploaded to the website https://ekon.go.id and could be accessed through the publication menu. The Coordinating Ministry’s spokesperson Haryo Limanseto issued a brief statement in response to the news. “We are checking it. Thank you for the information,” Haryo told Tempo on Monday, March 4.
The Coordinating Ministry later claimed that the issue had been resolved in a short time, meaning that the post had been removed and blocked. The team also took measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring. The Coordinating Ministry is committed to maintaining the security of electronic data.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time the official government websites have been hacked. The Ministry of Defense’s website was hacked on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, the General Election Commission (KPU) website in November 2023, the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) website in 2021, and the YouTube channel of the House of Representatives (DPR) in September 2023.
