TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin is scheduled to close the 20th National Games (PON) in Papua. The closing ceremony will be held at the Lukas Enembe Stadium in the Jayapura District on October 15.

The 20th PON Papua head of the closing ceremony, M. Umar Reliubun, in a statement on Tuesday, Oct. 12, said it has coordinated with the Papua governor, PON central board, and Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI).

Citing Antaranews, Umar said the ceremony will be different to the opening ceremony due to the limited number of dancers amidst Covid-19 restrictions. However, he said the ceremony, that is scheduled to be aired nationwide at 19:00 Eastern Indonesia Time (WIT), will feature local and national celebrities along with fireworks seen in the opening ceremony.

The seating capacity at the National Games closing will remain the same as the opening ceremony, which is 25 percent audience seating for athletes, officials, and supporting personnel. The limitation aimed to help curb the spread of Covid-19.
