Anies Baswedan Visits Athletes Competing in Papua National Games

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan departed from the capital city of Jakarta to Jayapura in support of the athletes competing in the 20th National Games (PON XX) in Papua.
“Inshallah, this will be a step to better achievements,” said the governor on his Instagram post on October 11, Antaranews reported.
Anies arrived in Jayapura on Monday morning and immediately met with a number of athletes and officials competing in archery and sepak takraw. The athletes and officials will return to Jakarta after competing in the Games.
The governor thanked the efforts shown by the athletes in the competition. “Bring home the stories. This experience can serve as a lesson for everyone,” said Anies Baswedan to the athletes. “Representing Jakarta, we thank you.”
Up until Sunday evening, the Jakarta National Games team managed to collect 72 gold medals, 58 silver medals, and 71 bronze medals with a total 201 medal win and ranks third behind West Java and East Java.
