Saiful Mahdi Hope for A Revision to ITE Law

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Saiful Mahdi, Lecturer from Syah Kuala University in Aceh, hoped that any ambiguous articles in the Information and Electronic Transaction Law ("ITE Law") to be revised. Saiful said that there should be no more victims of the ITE Law, such as himself.

"I hoped that the ITE Law can be revised and ambiguous articles removed," Saiful said in a virtual visitation accommodated by Banda Aceh Class IIA Penitentiary on Satruday, October 9, 2021.

Saiful said that he was lucky to receive amnesty because his case received major spotlight. He is certain that many people had fallen victim to the ITE Law and are not as lucky as himself.

"Moreover people living in the remote areas who cannot receive support," Saiful said.

Saiful said that after he is released, he will continue to advocate revisions oon the ITE Law. He added that he had joined with a group of people who had fallen victim to the ITE Law to continue to take efforts to revise the ITE Law.
