TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate of Cyber Crime at the Indonesian Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) planned to question an actress Wulan Guritno next week over an online gambling case. Wulan reportedly posted a video on her social media promoting online gambling in 2020.
“[The summons] is planned for next week,” Police Cyber Crime Chief Brigadier General Adi Vivid Agustiadi Bachtiar said on Thursday, August 31, 2023.
Adi, however, did not specify the date of the summons. He said the police are still monitoring, profiling, and collecting data on the actress.
On Wednesday, August 30, Adi confirmed that the police were analyzing Wulan's online gambling advertisement. “After tracing [the video], it was published in 2020. The website [of online gambling] still exists,” Adi said when met at the Bareskrim building.
Adi said that the National Police had collected the names of a number of celebrities, artists, and public figures who are suspected of promoting online gambling. They will be called in for questioning in stages, although the sites are no longer available.
Adi also urged celebrities and influencers to stop promoting online gambling, which can be punishable under Article 45 Paragraph 2, in conjunction with 27 Paragraph 2 of the ITE Law, which carries a penalty of six years in prison and a fine of Rp1 billion.
Wulan Guritno has been in the public spotlight after her video allegedly promoting the online gambling site, Sakti123, went viral on social media. In the video, Wulan said the site was a certified online gaming site.
