TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tangerang City found that 25 students, one teacher, and one school staff in 15 schools holding face-to-face learning (PTM) were tested positive for COVID-19. The city’s Health Agency head Dini Anggraeni said the result was obtained from the examination on 873 samples collected from the random tests in 18 schools.

“The infections are not dangerous because all people exposed to the virus have been vaccinated so they are categorized as asymptomatic patients (OTG) with mild symptoms and a high CT value. So the potential for virus transmission is low,” she said.

She explained the city administration assisted the quarantine of the patients, launched contact tracing to 15 people, and disinfected the schools. “The Health Agency and Education Agency held an evaluation meeting on stricter health protocols.”

The city administration would also continue to conduct COVID-19 random tests to schools holding on-site studies.

The Education Agency Head Jamaluddin, meanwhile, said schools that reported positive cases must be closed temporarily based on the standard operating procedures (SOP). “The agency had ordered 15 schools to be closed temporarily for a week starting Thursday, September 30. We have coordinated with the Health Agency as the expert and the one-week closure is deemed enough,” he said.

Despite COVID-19 positive cases in 15 schools, limited face-to-face learning would still be held in Tangerang City. “148 schools have participated in PTM thus far. The remaining 52 schools will be opened next Monday,” said Jamaluddin.
