TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Health Ministry’s digital transformation office on Monday announced on its website that members of the public that do not have mobile access to the home-grown Covid-19 tracing app PeduliLindungi will be permitted to board trains and planes.

The groups of people who do not own a mobile phone only need to submit their identity card number (NIK) as they book a flight or train ticket as this would help authorities reach the individual’s Covid-19 status and vaccination certificate.

“We have applied this ticket integration in airports. The data will be validated as tickets are booked for railway transport,” said the Health Ministry digital transformation office chief Setiaji on September 27, Bisnis.com reported. “Results for PCR and antigen tests will be there.”

Moreover, he explained that places and locations that are yet integrated into the PeduliLindungi app, people can manually access the mobile app to show their current status regarding Covid-19 to enter the location in the ‘self check’ feature.

The Indonesian government previously mandated the PeduliLindungi app as a requirement to travel long distances using public transportation amidst the public activity restriction (PPKM).
