Prosecutor's Office Names Alex Noerdin Suspect in Sriwijaya Mosque Case

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The South Sumatra Prosecutor's Office named Alex Noerdin as a suspect in the corruption case related to the construction of the Sriwijaya Grand Mosque in Palembang. Viktor Antonius Saragih, the Special Criminal Division's Assistant, said that Alex Noerdin was named as a suspect today, September 22.
Alex is charged with violating Article 2 and Article 3 of Law No.31/1999.
In addition to Alex, the former commissioner of the Municipal Mining and Energy Company (PDPDE) of South Sumatra, Muddai Madang, was also named as a suspect.
"However, for the official explanation, please go through the head of the Legal Information Center," Viktor said, Wednesday.
In the construction of the Great Mosque of Sriwijaya graft case, Alex Noerdin is suspected to have received Rp2.34 billion in cash.
The Prosecutor's Office had previously named four other suspects in the case. They are the auction committee chairman Syarifudin; head of the Sumatra Cipta Karya Public Works Agency, Eddy Hermanto; and the persons in charge of the operational project cooperation between PT Brantas Abipraya and PT Yodya Karya, Dwi Kridayanti and Yudi Arminto.
Last week, the Attorney General's Office also named Alex Noerdin a suspect in a corruption case in the PPDE South Sumatra related to a gas purchase deal.
