Minister Airlangga Hartarto: Pandemic Yet to End, People Must Stay Vigilant

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, talked of the Indonesian economic growth in the socialization event of People's Business Credit (KUR) with alumni of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) on Wednesday. He said the national economy grew by 7.07 percent in the second quarter of 2021.

“And this is the highest growth since the last 16 years as the government consistent in handling Covid-19 from upstream to downstream, Alhamdulillah, Covid-19 trend was successfully suppressed as of September 5, 2021,” said Airlangga in his remarks on Wednesday, September 8.

The chairman of the Covid-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Committee said the significant decline in positive case numbers in Indonesia allowed various public activities to be open.

“However, the government reminds all that the Covid-19 pandemic does not yet end and the public must stay vigilant because Covid-19 is still around us,” he remarked.

Airlangga also claimed that the government continued to improve the performance of the National Economic Recovery program, including, hold collaboration with the ITB Alumni Association (PP IA-ITB) in providing KUR. The program was aimed at boosting the economy of the alumni in the wake of the pandemic.
