TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said Indonesia has received a total of 225.4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine so far. The vaccines are from numerous brands, arriving in the form of ready-to-use doses as well as bulk.
Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta, September 6, Airlangga said the 225.4 million doses of vaccine arrived in 50 stages. This includes a new batch of five million ready-to-use Sinovac's vaccine doses that arrived today at noon via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
"This ensures that our vaccine stock is safe," the minister said.
To date, Indonesia has received 33 million doses in finished form and 153.9 million in bulk from Sinovac. Indonesia also got 19.5 million doses from Astrazeneca, eight million doses from Moderna, 2.75 million doses from Pfizer, and 8.25 million doses from Sinopharm.
He said the government has ensured the safety, quality, and efficacy of every brand of vaccines received. Airlangga also ensured that the COVID-19 vaccines received by Indonesia had gone through an evaluation process by the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) as well as recommendations from the Indonesia and Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (ITAGI), the WHO, and experts.
"There is no need to be picky. The best vaccines are the one currently available," he said.
He added that the government will continue to push vaccine rollouts to inoculate the 208.2 million Indonesians targeted for inoculation.
