TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Inspector General of the Education and Culture Ministry, Chatarina Girsang, ensured that the dissolution of the National Education Standards Agency (BSNP) will not contradict the National Education System Law (UU Sidiknas).

She explained the law did not mention the BSNP nomenclature. “It only mentions a standardization agency for guaranteeing and controlling the quality of education,” said Chatarina in a hearing with the Education Commission of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Wednesday, September 8.

The dissolution of the BSNP was stated in Government Regulation (PP) No. 57 of 2021 concerning National Education Standards (SNP).

Chatarina cited from the Sidiknas Law that the education standardization agency is an independent body at the national and provincial levels. She also opined that the PP SNP is in line with the Sidiknas Law, the Higher Education Law which also did not mention the BSNP nomenclature, and the Regional Government Law that did not regulate the national education standard.

The dissolution of BSNP noted the PP SNP and the ministry’s regulation concerning organizations and work procedures had eventually cut off overlapping authorities in designing and determining national education standards.

“This is in line with the Regional Government Law in which the determination of national education standards is on the central government, the Education and Culture Ministry,” Chatarina said.
