TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta’s Tebet Sectoral Police arrested four minors who were suspected of robbery as they took the victim’s motorbikes and cellphones in Manggarai, South Jakarta. They committed the crime with the assistance of an adult identified as MRA.

“Four suspects are minors, their ages range from 16 to 17 years. Only one suspect ages 18 years old,” said Tebet Sectoral Police Chief Comr. Alexander Yurikho on Wednesday, September 8.

The group carried out the misdeed on Sunday, September 5, in Manggarai, riding motorbikes and looking for victims who were seen out alone.

After finding the target, MRA pointed a knife at the victim, while others took the victim’s belongings. “The mastermind behind the act is the 16-year-old suspect,” said Alex.

Following the victim’s report, police investigators moved quickly and arrested the group last Monday at a hotel in Central Jakarta. At the time of the raid, they were with four underage women.

The police found out from an investigation into the suspects’ cellphones that they also involved in cases of online child prostitution. The five suspects were charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code concerning violent robberies with a maximum sentence of nine years in prison.
