TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said his side would tighten the supervision of public compliance with the health protocols and the level 3 public mobility restrictions or PPKM Level 3, particularly in cafes and restaurants. The announcement was made after a restaurant in South Jakarta, Holywings Kemang, was found violating the COVID-19 policies on Sunday, September 5.

“We’ll intensify raids at cafes, restaurants. Along with the policy relaxations, raids will surely be strengthened,” said Riza at the City Hall on Monday, September 6.

According to him, venues violating the rules, including Holywings, will be sanctioned with temporary closure and fines, among others. He also appealed to the public to stay disciplined in implementing the health protocols.

Yesterday evening, the Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) temporarily shut down Holywings restaurant for 3x24 hours as it violated PPKM Level 3 on Saturday night, September 4.

Previously, a video footage showing police dispersing crowds in a restaurant went viral on social media. It was known to be Holywings Kemang based on the sound of the video. People were seen flocking the place, neglecting the predetermined health protocols.

The crowd gathered at the cafe although PPKM Level 3 is still in place in Jakarta until September 6. Governor Anies Baswedan has indeed relaxed the restrictions, allowing restaurants to serve dine-in customers, but at only 25 percent capacity. The dine-in time is also limited to 30 minutes per person.
