2.7mn Jakartans Unvaccinated Against Covid-19, Says Anies Baswedan

TEMPO.CO Jakarta Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan on Friday said there are still 2.7 million Jakarta residents that have yet been vaccinated against Covid-19 . The figure is mostly the impoverished.
“They are generally people with weak socio-economic status,” said the governor in a Youtube video published by HIPMI TV on September 3.
He argued that these 2.7 million are likely hesitant to get the vaccine due to safety concerns from the people themselves and those who are not able to leave their daily job to queue at vaccination centers.
“Some find it impossible to leave their workplaces,” he said.
Anies believes there needs to be stronger campaigns to attract people to get their vaccine shots as it would help fast-track the city’s goal to achieve herd immunity.
The governor today paid a visit to the Covid-19 vaccination program held by t he Association of Young Indonesian Businesspeople ( HIPMI) at the Muara Baru modern fish market in North Jakarta’s Penjaringan.
