TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono in a virtual press conference on Thursday said the national vaccination rate against Covid-19 underwent a rapid increase within the past six weeks as supplies also grew.

“Since the first vaccination on January 13, 2021, the vaccination rate reached 50 million people in July 2021 or in 26 weeks,” said the deputy minister in his speech during the arrival of Pfizer vaccines to Indonesia on September 2, Antaranews reported.

He believes vaccinators and healthcare workers are now getting used to vaccinating people and are able to improve the speed of the program.

Dante said the national mass vaccination program is eyeing to reach an average vaccination rate of 2.3 million daily doses starting in September.

The Deputy Health Minister is optimistic that the aforementioned goal will be achieved as August logged 15.2 million vaccine distribution in the fourth week and 20.3 million in the fifth week.
