TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - House of Representatives (DPR) legislator Al Muzzammil Yusuf in a hearing on Thursday called for The National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) to organize an in depth study on the political 'buzzers'.

The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) politician directly requested this to The National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) governor and National Resilience Council (Wantannas) secretary.

“I suggest they be subjected to serious studies and not condone them as there are no legal justifications for [their existence],” said the Commission I House legislator Muzammil on September 3, Antaranews reported.

Muzammil said that it was not a problem if buzzers conduct healthy discussions and arguments. But he argues that it is often not the case and would often chastise notably intelligent figures.

He cited two cases as an example that would justify his worries. The first happened in February 2020 when a professor at the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency was inaugurated. The second was during the problematic civics knowledge test by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

The latter example, he said, saw buzzers attempt to clash public opinion between the Pancasila ideology and Islam.

“This needs to be studied deeply by the Lemhanas in the context of the cadre of future leaders,” said Muzammil.
