TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the bed occupancy rate (BOR) in Covid-19 hospitals across the capital city is now 22 percent.

“It can be seen that the BOR in Jakarta is getting lower,” said Anies at the City Hall on Wednesday, August 25.

He outlined that only 1,896 of the total 8,745 isolation beds were occupied by Covid-19 patients with mild symptoms. The occupancy numbers of ICU beds also decreased to 586 of 1,468 existing beds.

According to Anies, around 24 percent of Covid-19 patients being treated at the city’s Covid-19 referral hospitals were not residents of Jakarta. “About 24 to 30 percent of the BOR are occupied by non-Jakarta residents. So Jakarta residents [being treated in isolation or ICU beds] are below 22 percent,” he explained.

The low bed occupancy rate is one of the indicators used by the government to drop the level status of the public mobility restrictions (PPKM) in Jakarta from level 4 to level 3.

Anies Baswedan had also issued new regulations regarding the implementation of PPKM Level 3 in the capital city. “This is good news, but it doesn't mean we can lower our guards down. Complying with the health protocols remains mandatory,” he said.
