TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Traffic Police Director Sr. Comr. Sambodo Purnomo Yogo evaluated the Covid-19 checkpoints which had been set up across the capital city since July 2, 2021, in line with the enforcement of the public mobility restrictions dubbed Emergency PPKM and PPKM Level 4.

Sambodo said many people have now owned a worker registration document or STRP as the mandatory travel requirement. “Data shows that almost two million people have STRP,” he said at the Metro Police HQ, South Jakarta, Tuesday, August 3.

STRP, he explained, is the main requirement for workers to pass 100 checkpoints in Jakarta and its neighboring regions (Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi). Only people working in essential and critical sectors could own STRP.

The checkpoint aimed at reducing people’s mobility and curbing Covid-19 transmission. Sambodo underlined that officers continued to check the mandatory document at the checkpoints from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.,

On Monday, August 2, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo announced the extension of PPKM Level 4 from August 3 to 9. The decision was made in consideration of several indicators related to the Covid-19 development in the last few days.
