TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Airports managed by state-airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) as of Sunday, August 1, requires air travel passengers to download the PeduliLindungi mobile application in order to process flight departures.

The app is set to act as an access control terminal, check-in counter access control, and health validation process control.

“This is in order to support the implementation of the Health Ministry’s Circular No.847/2021 on health document digitization for air transport passengers integrated with the PeduliLindungi app,” Angkasa Pura II president director Muhammad Awaluddin wrote in a statement on August 1.

During a previous ‘familiarization phase’ upon the mandatory use of the app in July, the airport operator logged at least 8 thousand air travel passengers.

AP II claims the use of the app simplifies the process and minimizes physical contact and eases air passengers as they would not have to bring paper documents to show their Covid-19 test results or vaccination card, which are required to board a plane.

“PeduliLindungi ensures passenger’s health document validation processes in airports are done digitally which is safer, quicker, and easier. It also supports the Covid-19 pandemic health protocol,” said the Angkasa Pura II president.

The Health Ministry’s circular states that health labs and facilities must input its testing results to the government via a unified NAR system that is then connected to the app and accessible to app holders. Official reports suggest 742 laboratories are already integrated with the NAR.
