TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - South Jakarta Metro Police detained an owner of printing business identified as J and his partner in crime ID for producing fake Covid-19 test results.

The Regional Police Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Commissioner Achmad Akbar, explained J committed the crime for economic reasons.

“Two perpetrators: ID who has no job and J who has a computer printing service business, although it is of a medium scale,” said Achmad in South Jakarta, Thursday, July 29.

Achmad stopped short of detailing the business run by suspect J.

He said the perpetrators were still related to another suspect in the case of fake Covid-19 polymerase chain reaction or PCR swab test results, who was identified as AR. AR was being processed at the Jakarta Metro Police.

Police arrested the two suspects in Melawai, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta last Monday. They were charged with Article 263 and Article 268 of the Criminal Code regarding falsification of letters with a maximum sentence of six years in prison.
