TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Google's philanthropic arm, Google.org, on Thursday announced a US$1 million grant to help Indonesia's Covid-19 response. The grant will be given to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to support the Indonesian Red Cross.

"Through Google.org's grant to IFRC, we aim to participate in Indonesia's fight against Covid-19," Google Indonesia managing director Randy Jusuf said in a written statement, Thursday, July 29.

Randy said the company has focused its efforts on ensuring people have quick access to information and tools to get information, stay connected, and stay safe during the current crisis.

"We believe that we at Google must do everything we can to help the community by expanding our Covid-19 support," he said.

This initiative builds on Google's ongoing support in dealing with the pandemic in Indonesia and neighboring nations.

Google.org previously provided Ad Grants to agencies and organizations to run public health information campaigns for free. Since the start of the pandemic, Google.org has also funded vaccine distribution in Asia and around the world through Gavi.
