Fire Engulfs Food and Drugs Monitoring Agency HQ in Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) headquarters on late Sunday evening was engulfed in fire which summoned 17 fire trucks that managed to overcome the situation hours later.

According to a Whatsapp group of the Jakarta fire and rescue agency, there were 15 fire trucks from Central Jakarta and Jakarta Gulkarmat agency with 75 firefighters mobilized to put out the fire, Antaranews reported.

The initial report came in at 21:30 local time from local residents nearby the BPOM headquarters located at Central Jakarta’s Percetakan Negara Raya Street. Initial reports suggest the fire first broke out at the office’s ground floor.
