TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs together with the Information and Communication Ministry (Kominfo) are drafting a pocketbook containing a Joint Decree (SKB) on the Guidelines for the Implementation of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE Law).
The handbook will later be distributed to all members of the National Police and the Attorney General's Office so as to disseminate the joint decree on the law.
“We are focusing with the Kominfo team to prepare a handbook to be distributed. The SKB is noted in the pocketbook to ease law enforcers in carrying, reading, and studying [the law],” said the ITE Law Review Team Chairman, Sugeng Purnomo, in an online press conference on Thursday, June 24.
Sugeng hoped there would no longer be multiple interpretations of the articles of the policy by legal apparatus. In fact, the joint decree has been distributed in PDF form.
“Hopefully, this will close the gap for multiple interpretations in the implementation [of the law],” he added.
The joint decree had been signed by the Kominfo Minister Johnny G Plate, the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and the Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin on June 23, 2021.
The signing of the decree was also witnessed by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud Md at his office, Central Jakarta. This guideline will be used while waiting for the revision of the ITE Law that will be included in the changes of the 2021 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) priority list.
