TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bogor City of West Java has seen a significant hike in the number of Covid-19 cases recently. Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto thus decided to take a number of measures to limit people’s mobility to curb virus transmission.

“I received a report from the Health Agency that there are 204 new positive cases. This is the highest hike since the Covid-19 pandemic started in March last year,” said Bima on Thursday, June 17.

One of the measures taken is the closure of pedestrian tracks around the Bogor Botanical Garden on weekends to prevent crowds at the location. The path is usually used by the public for sports, such as running and cycling.

Additionally, the City Covid-19 Task Force sets requirements for the opening of tourist destinations. Among them, tourists are required to present a negative result of the swab antigen test, and the management must limit the number of visitors to 50 percent of the total capacity.

Bima also confirmed that the city administration will impose the odd-even traffic policy this weekend. This applies to motorized vehicles from 10:00 to 16:00 local times.

The significant hike in Covid-19 brings Bogor to be a red zone. The city’s hospital bed occupancy rate also reaches over 60 percent.

Bima Arya called on the public to remain disciplined in implementing the predetermined health protocols. He also warned that the business sector must comply with the protocols, such as operating at 50 percent capacity and limiting the operating hours to 21:00 local time.
