TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Argo Yuwono confirmed the Indonesia Corruption Watch’s (ICW) report against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman Firli Bahuri and it is being examined by the Public Complaint Department (Dumas).

“It is being investigated by Dumas,” said Argo on Friday, June 4.

The anti-graft watchdog reported the KPK chairman to the police over alleged graft related to the rental of a private helicopter for personal use.

ICW researcher Wana Alamsyah found a discrepancy between the rent cost reported by Firli to the KPK Supervisory Board and the actual cost.

The helicopter was also provided by PT Air Pacific Utama, which one of its commissioners once became a witness in the alleged graft case of the Meikarta project, Wana informed. ICW believed that the action of the KPK chairman was overseen by Article 12(B) of Law No. 31/1999 in conjunction with Law No. 20/2001.

“Moreover, we don’t receive information that Firli reports about receiving the gratification,” Wana added.

Firli Bahuri was previously reported by the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) to the KPK Supervisory Board on June 24, 2020. Firli was deemed to have violated the code of ethics for showing a ‘hedonistic lifedata-style’ by using a private helicopter for personal trips. He traveled from Palembang to Baturaja on June 20, 2020, to pay a visit to his parent’s grave. The KPK Supervisory Board declared Firli guilty.
