Rizieq Shihab's Fake Swab Test Indictment Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The East Jakarta District Court will hold a the indictment trial for the false swab test case at Bogor's Ummi Hospital, with defendant Rizieq Shihab today, June 3. Two other defendants are the hospital's director Andi Tatat and Rizieq Shihab's son-in-law, Hanif Alatas.

"The presiding judge in this case is Khadwanto with members Muarif and Suryaman," the court's PR Officer Alex Adam Faisal told Tempo, Thursday.

Rizieq, Andi Tatat and Hanif Alatas are all charged with spreading false information their swab test results, taken at Ummi Hospital. They are also charged of obstructing the process of tracking Covid-19 transmission in Bogor.

In their indictment, prosecutors said Tatat violated Article 14 paragraph 1, subsidiary to Article 14 paragraph 2; subsidiary to Article 15 of Law 1/1946 on the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

In the second indictment, Tatat is charged with deliberately obstructing outbreak control efforts, violating Article 14 paragraph 1 of Law4/1984 on Infectious Disease Outbreaks, in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

In the third indictment, Andi is charged with violating Article 216 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code. Tatat and Hanif Alatas' cases files are separated from Rizieq Shihab's.
