TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Papua Police Chief Insp. Gen. Mathius Fakhiri confirmed that the attack on the Oksamel Sub-sector Police, Pegunungan Bintang regency, was carried out by an unknown person on Friday morning, May 28, at 01:30 Eastern Indonesian Time (WIT). In the attack, one police member died and three firearms were stolen by the perpetrator.

“It is true that there was an attack that killed Brigadier Mario Senoi,” said Fakhiri on Friday, May 28.

He explained that based on the report submitted by the Kiwirok Sectoral Police Chief, the victim was on duty alone as the Sub-sector Police only had four personnel. At the time, three of them were not present, as two were in Oksibil, the capital of Pegunungan Bintang regency, and the other in Jayapura for medical treatment.

“The attack was committed by six people and the firearms stolen included two units of SS1 V, one revolver along with the ammunition,” said Fakhiri.
