TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the Jakarta City of Collaboration slogan was proof that the provincial government did not want to monopolize the development in the capital.

Anies said the regional government considered the city’s development an opportunity for all parties to participate. He added that no city in Indonesia boasted as many resources as Jakarta. From NGOs to entrepreneurs, most of them are located in Jakarta, he said.

“No city has as many observers and analysts as Jakarta. No city has as many content creators as Jakarta. No city has as many international institutions as Jakarta,” said Anies during the proclamation event of Jakarta’s 494th Anniversary at the City Hall on Monday, May 24, 2021.

If the city administration saw the development as merely a government matter, Anies said, all these resources would not be utilized.

With the slogan, he hoped that this paradigm could change. He said the city administration would determine the direction of the urban development, but all parties were invited to be involved.

Anies also said the government had the resources and the authority. On the other hand, the community has innovations and creations. “When they are combined, it will be a huge power. So the city of collaboration means let’s build Jakarta together. Jakarta belongs to us, not only the provincial government,” he remarked.

Anies Baswedan further appreciated various parties involved in developing the capital city and those willing to help build the city although they were not sworn to take care of Jakarta. “Those who are sworn to manage Jakarta are us in the government,” he said.
