TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The return traffic of 2021 Eid al-Fitr was forecasted to peak on May 21-22, 2021. Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Yusri Yunus said Jakarta has not yet seen this year's Eid traffic peak to date.

“We predict it will be May 21 or 22,” said Yustri at the Police HQ on Tuesday, May 18.

The regional police had carried out a security operation dubbed 'Ketupat Jaya Operation' during the government’s ban on Eid homecoming on May 6-17.

However, around 1.5 million people left Jakarta to celebrate Eid al-Fitr festivity in their hometowns. Thus, the police must anticipate the return traffic of travelers in an attempt to prevent a spike in Covid-19 cases.

“We will conduct two activities. First, hold the swab antigen tests for travelers using private vehicles. Secondly, open the free antigen test posts at sectoral police offices,” Yusri explained.

Jakarta Police had also prepared 14 checkpoints to review travelers’ Covid-19-free documents and provide free swab antigen test services, as follows.

  1. Parking area in KM 34B Cibatu of Cikampek toll road towards Jakarta.
  2. Kalideres Terminal.
  3. Pulogebang Terminal.
  4. Tanjung Priok Terminal.
  5. Kampung Rambutan Terminal.
  6. Kebon Nanas, Tangerang City.
  7. Jatiuwung, Tangerang City.
  8. Batuceper Transportation Agency Office , Tangerang City.
  9. Jalan Raya Rengas-Lemahabang, Bekasi Regency.
  10. Sasak Jarang Post, Bekasi City.
  11. Tomyang Post, Bekasi City.
  12. Jalan Raya Parung, Ciputat, Bojongsari, Depok.
  13. Jalan Raya Bogor at the Cilangkap Gas Station.
  14. Jalan Gatot Subroto, Bitung, South Tangerang.

The checkpoints were opened after the policy that required travelers returning to Jakarta to carry a Covid-19 free certificate.

Jakarta Metro Police will conduct the inspection in those checkpoints until May 24, 2021.
