TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation ministry has responded to the discovery for the use of used rapid antigen test equipment in North Sumatra’s Kualanamu Airport and requested that each and every airport authority to work closely in conjunction with port health authorities and health agencies to prevent any recurrence.

The ministry’s director general of air transportation Novie Riyanto said this problem is the main concern of the directorate general of transportation as it also acts as the Chairman of the National Air Facilitation Committee (FAL).

Riyanto assures that the FAL Chair has the authority to coordinate and recommend national facilitation committees and government instances to make policies to a plethora of issues, including the illegal appliance of used rapid antigen test equipment.

He stated that the Transportation Ministry supports the police arrest against the suspects and ordered the local North Sumatra airport authority to accompany investigators through the investigation.

The North Sumatra police previously discovered rapid antigen test service that utilized used stick cotton buds that were salvaged and cleaned again and presented as new equipment. The health workers who were caught providing this service also worked in Kimia Farma’s rapid antigen laboratory.
