TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police arrested five of seven Indian nationals who escaped the covid-19 quarantine process.

“They were assisted by four Indonesian citizens to avoid the 14-day quarantine as a requirement to enter Indonesia upon arrival at Soekarno-Hatta Airport,” said Jakarta Metro Police Head of Public Relations, Sr. Comr. Yusri Yunus, at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police today, April 28, 2021.

According to Yusri, the police had named 11 suspects in this case. They were seven Indian citizens and four Indonesian citizens who acted as the helpers.

He reiterated that the foreigners avoided the quarantine process with the help of Zakaria Ramdhan, Ahmad Sulaiman, Rusdian, and Mukri by paying Rp6.5 million, Rp7 million, and Rp7.5 million.

The seven Indians boarded a charter plane Air Asia QZ 988 Chennai India - Soekarno Hatta Jakarta on April 21, 2021. There were 132 passengers on the flight.

After the tracing was carried out, the authority found out that eight passengers – seven Indians and one Indonesian – did not undergo the mandatory quarantine.
