TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD Jakarta) Speaker Mujiyono called for the city’s inspectorate to remain objective and professional upon investigating the sexual harassment allegedly committed by former Goods and Services Procurement Agency (BPPBJ) Head, Blessmiyanda.

Blessmiyanda was officially terminated from the position by Governor Anies Baswedan on March 19, 2021, over sexual harassment allegations against his coworkers.

“Morals and ethics must be held strong by members of the Civil Servants Corps (Korpri) and what Blessmiyanda had done is likely to also be committed by other people as well,” said the Democratic Party politician on Wednesday.

Mujiyono also urged the government to immediately evaluate its monitoring to prevent a recurrence that focuses more on the regulation.

“Don’t just focus on the individual as anyone could commit the same act,” he asserts.

He also called for the Jakarta Inspectorate to remain transparent in the investigation as he believes members of the public have the right to be informed about the sexual harassment case’s development and more importantly, its conclusion.
